The Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) exam has been postponed in an announcement made by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) – the body that governs the exam. “Due to the surge in COVID-19 cases across the country, the Commission has decided to defer the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination (Tier-I), 2020 with effect from 20-04-2021. Fresh dates for the balance candidates of the said examination will be intimated in due course,” – stated the SSC on the topic of the CHSL exam. The CHSL exam dates has been postponed from 20th April onwards and new dates will be announced in due time.
The applicants for the SSC CHSL exam are advised to keep themselves updated with any new developments regarding the exam on the ssc.nic.in website.
The SSC CHSL exam schedule had started on 12th April 2021 and was arranged to be held till 27th April 2021. The SSC CHSL have been postponed from today (20th April) onwards with immediate effect. For candidates who have opted for exam centres in West Bengal, the exam has been scheduled for 21st & 22nd May 2021 and there is no update yet on whether those exams will proceed or be postponed.
The Combined Higher Secondary Level exam is conducted every year to fill vacancies that have opened up in different positions. Lower Division Clerk, Sorting Assistant, Postal Assistant, Data Entry Operator and Junior Secretariat Assistant posts in different government ministries, departments and organisations. For this year’s CHSL exam, there are 4726 vacancies to be filled via due process of the examination. The SSC had already released the notification for download of admit cards prior to the postponement of the exam. The SSC have announced that they will issue new admit cards once the new dates and schedule for the exam has been announced after assessing the situation of the country and deciding on a date when it will be considered safe enough to conduct a public exam without any risk to the applicants appearing for the exam.
Also postponed was the Stenographers Grade C & D exams which were scheduled to commence on March 29th earlier this year. The Staff Selection Committee has planned to conduct the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam from 29th May to 7th June 2021.The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has also postponed or delayed the dates for the civil services exam, Indian Statistical Exam, EPFO exam, Indian Economic Service Exam amongst various other recruitment exams in the wake of the rising pandemic 2nd wave due to Covid-19 in India. UPSC has also confirmed that new dates will be announced later and well in advance so candidates have ample time to prepare for the exam.
