The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) conducted the intermediate exams for students from 1st to 13th February in more than 1400 centres across the state. The number of students who appeared for the BSEB intermediate exams exceeded 13.5 lakh in numbers. Officials of the BSEB have assured that the results of BSEB intermediate & matriculation level exams will be announced before results of any other state education board.
BSEB officials have been quoted saying that the evaluations of all answer copies were done between March 5th& March 19thfollowed by verification and toppers’ verification. The results are expected to be announced between 24th March & 28th March i.e. before Holi.
The BSEB checks the top 10 toppers’ verification to ensure authenticity and avoid any bogus marks obtained by the use of malpractice. After multiple scams being unearthed in the past few years by the media, BSEB has taken up precautions and measures to ensure fair conduction of exams. 675 students were suspended this year for malpractice while another 75 persons aping other candidates were arrested.
Board officials conduct short interviews of the toppers to verify if the answers & handwriting in the answer sheets matches with the answers given by the student in the interviews. The interview panel is comprised of subject experts who can identify the genuineness of the answers.
Evaluators were tasked to finish the correction process in double shifts and computers were provided at evaluation centres for speedy uploading and updating of marks while minimizing errors that would have otherwise been common during manual correction process.
As 13.5 lakh students dearly await their results, it remains to be seen if the pass percentage increases or decreases from last year’s pass percentage of 80.4%.
