  • The following exam is to be held nearly on February 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, and 14 in two differentiated sessions i.e., in two shifts (pre-noon and post-noon). The timings for both the shifts shall be from 9:30AM to 12:30 PM and from 3PM to 6PM.

  • To help candidates better prepare for the exam, IIT Bombay has also released the GATE 2021 Mock Tests links for the 27 papers.

The following details mentioned in the GATE 2021 admit card are:

  • Candidate’s details
  • Reporting time
  • Paper code
  • Registration number
  • Centre details
  • Guidelines
  • Detected discrepancies in the IIT-B GATE 2021 Admit cards can be rectified by contacting the respective zonal GATE office via email. The respective email has to be attached with the copy and a subject line “Correction in Admit Card” to the organizing institute (IIT Bombay) Candidates who have not downloaded their admit cards can do so by logging onto the exam portal No permission shall be granted further to make any changes on the final filled-up form.
  • GATE is held in eight zones in India jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, and Roorkee) with one organizing institute on a rotational basis.
  • The candidates who clear the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering are eligible for admission to MTech courses and for jobs in Public Sector Units (PSUs).
  • Two subjects in humanities have been introduced to GATE this year that will allow the students of humanities to take the exam vividly increasing the number of applicants this year. This is reportedly the biggest change made in GATE 2021. The subjects those got introduced in the curriculum are:
  1. Environmental Sciences and Engineering;
  2. Humanities and social science.
  • As per an IE report, over 14,000 students have applied for these newly-introduced GATE humanities subjects. This in total makes about 27 subjects along with the engineering courses to appear in the GATE 2021.
  • Moreover, the eligibility criteria have also been reduced from a minimum 10+2+4 (ongoing) to 10+2+3 this year. This means, students who are in their third year of their undergraduate programme can also apply for GATE 2021. This will provide them a year’s opportunity to improve their marks.
  • Even after the announcements of the release of GATE 2021 admit cards, the candidates are not themselves ready and active to appear the exam. Looking at the present COVID-19 pandemic situation and an introduction to the new strains of Coronavirus, they tried to take the matter to Twitter with a request to the authorities to postpone the GATE 2021 examination.
  • According to the students, the previous year affected their preparation due to massive mental pressures. However, these exams are conducted for these students itself, and if still students aren’t ready to appear for these exams there seems no point of forcing them to appear these exams. But on the other hand, lack of responses from the authorities seem to clarify that they are adamant to take any postponing decisions further as the pandemic has already delayed the structure of sessions.
  • Nobody is currently sure about what might happen in the nearby future, whether these requests of students will be granted or not. What we can only assume is that since the admit card is on its release there is hardly any chances to discrepant or turn aback to change any mind.

Points to remember if you want to rectify your GATE 2021 Admit card:

  • The procedure for correcting GATE 2021 Admit card shall be carried out offline unlike the re-correction procedure in an application for GATE 2021.
  • The grievances for correcting admit card details shall be mailed to the respective zonal GATE office attached along with a copy marked to the organizing institute.
  • In order to get the changes incorporated, one has to complete it on or before the 13th of January.
